Hudson Yards & The Vessel Visitors Guide – Explore NYC’s Waterfront from a Jet Ski

Hudson Yards vessel from the water

New York City neighborhoods are packed with exciting sights, and Hudson Yards and The Vessel are no exception. This ultra-sleek neighborhood boasts a combination of architecture, art, shopping, and waterfront and skyline views.

That said, most people explore Hudson Yards and The Vessel on foot. They tend to have fun wandering through the Yards’ grounds or scaling The Vessel’s staircases.

But the best way to take in this modern marvel? From the water. Sea the City’s Jet Ski Tours gives you an exhilarating up-close look at Manhattan’s west side, with launching areas just minutes away from The Hudson Yards’ sights.

Let’s take a closer look at how you can experience Hudson Yards and The Vessel from the most unique angle possible—from a jet ski on the Hudson River!

What is Hudson Yards?

Hudson Yards is part of NYC’s mega-development on Manhattan’s west side. Since its opening in 2019, it’s become a cultural center and hotspot. Visitors flock to it for its bucket-list collection of Hudson Yards activities, attractions like The Edge, and connection to The High Line.

Take in the View from The Edge

The Edge at the Hudson Yards sits atop 30 Hudson Yards Tower. The structure is definitely worth a visit since its design leaves you suspended in midair and looking 100 stories down from a bold, angled glass floor.

The outdoor deck is made of frameless glass panels that are boldly angled outward, creating a floating sensation as you lean out over the busy city below. You get a unique perspective where you can take in panoramic views of the Hudson River, downtown Manhattan, and beyond all in one place.

Walk the High Line from Hudson Yards

One of the best activities near Hudson Yards is the High Line. The Yards connect directly to it, making it easy to keep your day—or night—going. Known as the “park in the sky,” this elevated greenway and nonprofit features gardens inspired by the self-seeded landscape that took over the railroad tracks after the trains stopped running.

Once you arrive, you can grab a picnic meal from one of the nearby food vendors and enjoy it in one of the park’s shaded areas. After you’ve refueled, swing by a free event like Pigeonfest or check out rotating art installations like A Totem of the High Line by Arthur Simms.

What is The Vessel?

The Vessel Hudson Yards is an observatory and architectural centerpiece of the Hudson Yards’ skyline. Its honeycomb shape and other futuristic accents make it feel as if it’s plucked straight out of the surreal cityscape of Blade Runner. Its shimmering exterior that reflects the sky and surrounding buildings make it one of the most photographed landmarks in the Big Apple.

Why Hudson Yards is Perfect for a Jet Ski Tour

Simply phenomenal- amazing sights but even better experience. Truly one of the best activities I’ve done. It’s both hectic shooting round on the jet ski but peaceful on the water vs. the streets—Joe, Trustpilot reviewer.
